Working on and Submitting Assignments
Finding Your Assignments
Click My Assignments in the left sidebar. On a phone, tap the menu icon at the top left first.
The My Assignments page groups your work into sections:
| Section | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Needs Attention | Work your teacher returned for revision |
| To Do | Assignments you have not submitted yet |
| Submitted | Work you handed in that your teacher has not returned yet |
| Returned (Graded) | Work your teacher returned with a grade. This section starts closed. |
Click a section name to open or close it. Only sections that have assignments are shown.
Each assignment card shows the class, the teacher, and how much time is left (for example "2 days left", Overdue, or Time Expired). If your teacher made the assignment collaborative, the card shows Collaborative.
To find something quickly, type in the search box ("Search assignments, classes, or teachers...") or click Filter & Sort to choose a class, a teacher, or a sort order.
Clicking My Assignments in the sidebar also opens a short list of your current assignments under it. A Draft label means you have already started that one. Click an assignment in the list to open it, or See more for the full page.
Assignments that are locked
Some assignments are parts of a project that must be done in order. A locked part does not appear on My Assignments until you submit the part before it. On the project page it shows Locked and "Complete the previous part to unlock this one." See Projects.
Opening an Assignment
Click Open Assignment on the card. The editor opens straight away.
If the assignment is a discussion, a discussion page opens instead. See Discussions and Messages.
At the top of the editor you see:
- The assignment title and class
- The due date, for example "Due in 3 days" or Overdue
- Submit Assignment
- Assignment Details
Reading the instructions
Click Assignment Details to open the instructions panel. It can include:
- Description: what your teacher wants you to do
- Resources: files from your teacher
- Helpful Links
- Milestones: steps your teacher set for the assignment
- Grading Rubric: how you will be graded, if your teacher shared it
The panel opens by itself the first time you open an assignment on a computer. Close it to get more room to write.
If your teacher turned on Read Aloud for you, a Read Aloud button under the title reads the instructions out loud.
Writing Your Work
Type your work in the editor. It saves automatically. The bottom of the editor shows Saving... and then Saved!, along with your word and character count.
The editor has formatting tools, citations, spelling and grammar checks, and more. See Using the Editor.
To get help while you write, open the AI Study Assistant with Split View or AI Only at the top of the screen. See Using the AI Study Assistant.
Milestones
If your teacher set milestones, a round progress widget appears on the editor, showing how many you have completed (for example "1/3"). Click it to open Your Progress and see each milestone. Milestones are checked automatically a few seconds after you stop typing. When you finish one, Limudi congratulates you and shows the next one.
Timed assignments
Some assignments have a time limit. Before you start, a Timed Essay window tells you how many minutes you have.
- Tick "I understand this is a timed essay and I am ready to begin".
- Click Begin Writing. The timer starts.
The timer stays at the top of the screen. It turns orange in the last 10 minutes and red in the last minute. Once you start, the clock keeps running, even if you close the page.
When time runs out, the editor locks and your work is submitted automatically. You see "Time is up. Auto-submitting your work...". If automatic submission fails, click Submit Assignment yourself.
If you have extra time as an accommodation, your timer is already longer. If you are allowed breaks, use Take Break and Resume in the timer bar. The clock stops during a break.
Submitting
- Click Submit Assignment. On a phone, it is the green bar under the title.
- A window asks "Are you sure you want to submit this assignment? You will not be able to edit it after submission."
- Click Submit Assignment to confirm, or Cancel to keep working.
You may also see these in the submit window:
- Preview AI Grade: if your school allows it, this shows a predicted grade and suggestions before you submit. It is only a preview. Your teacher gives the final grade. After the preview, click Go Back & Improve to keep working, or Submit Anyway.
- Mini Quiz Required: your teacher wants you to answer a short quiz about your work before it is submitted. See The Mini Quiz.
When it is done you see "Assignment submitted successfully!". The editor locks and the top of the page shows Submitted and a Review Submission button.
After you submit, you cannot edit your work unless your teacher returns it for revision.
Working with classmates
In a collaborative session that a classmate started, only the person who started it can submit. You see Session creator submits. If your teacher made the groups, any member can submit for the group. See Using the Editor.
After You Submit
- Your assignment moves to Submitted.
- Click Review Submission in the editor (or View Submission on the card) to see what you handed in.
- When your teacher returns it, you get a notification and the grade and feedback appear. See Viewing Feedback and Grades.
Common Questions
Can I stop and come back later? Yes. Your work saves as you type. Open the assignment again to continue.
What if I close the page by accident? Your work is saved. Open the assignment again. If some typing did not reach the server, Limudi offers to restore it. See Drafts and Offline Editing.
Can I submit after the due date? The Submit Assignment button stays available after the due date, unless the assignment is timed and the time has run out. Your teacher decides how late work is treated.
Can I change my work after submitting? Only if your teacher returns it for revision. Then you can click Make Revisions and Re-submit Assignment.
I see "Please write some content before submitting". The editor is empty. Write your work first.
Something went wrong while submitting. Check your internet connection and try again. Your draft is safe. See Assignment Submission Issues or click Help at the top of the screen.
