Sync and Offline Issues
Limudi saves your work on your device and syncs it to the server when you're online. This guide helps you resolve sync problems, offline mode problems, and data conflicts.
My Draft Isn't Syncing
If you keep seeing a notice like "3 pending changes", the editor shows Not saved, or "Syncing..." never finishes:
Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection
- Open another website to confirm you're online
- If you're on mobile, check you have a data signal or are connected to Wi-Fi
- Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data
Step 2: Sync Manually
- Keep the assignment open
- In the notice that says changes are pending, click Sync Now
- Wait up to 30 seconds for the sync to finish. A small Synced message appears when it's done.
Step 3: Reload the Page
- Check that your latest work is saved: look for Saved! at the bottom of the editor
- Reload the page (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R)
- The editor reloads with your latest draft and tries to sync again
Step 4: Log Out and Log Back In
- Open the account menu (your name and picture in the sidebar) and click Logout
- Log back in
- Open the assignment. Your draft should still be there and will try to sync again.
Do NOT clear your browser storage or cookies before your work syncs. This deletes drafts that are only saved on your device.
Offline Mode Isn't Working
If you go offline and the editor stops working:
- Open the assignment while you're online: then keep the page open. Reloading or opening a new page while offline may not work in a browser.
- Check browser storage: offline drafts are saved in your browser's storage. If it's full, they can't be saved. Clear old browsing data from your browser settings.
- Avoid private/incognito mode: private browsing may limit local storage in some browsers.
When your device loses its internet connection, a notice says "You are offline - Changes will sync when connection is restored". If you're online but changes are waiting, the notice shows how many changes are pending, with a Sync Now button.
My Draft Was Overwritten on Another Device
If you edited an assignment on two devices before syncing, the sync notice may say conflicts were detected. Click Resolve to open the Resolve Conflicts dialog:
- Compare the two boxes: Your Version (this device) and Server Version (the copy saved on the server)
- Click Keep Mine or Keep Server
To prevent future conflicts:
- Wait until your work shows Saved! or Synced before switching devices
- Avoid opening the same assignment on two devices at the same time
My Device Storage Is Full
Limudi stores drafts in your browser. If your device's storage is full:
- On desktop: go to browser settings, then Clear browsing data, and choose "Cached images and files" only (do not clear all data)
- On mobile: go to device settings, then Apps, then your browser, and clear the cache only. Do not clear storage.
- Reload Limudi and try saving again
Draft History
While you can still edit an assignment, click the Restore Draft button (clock icon) in the editor toolbar. The Restore Previous Draft dialog lists your recent drafts with the time each was last saved. Click Restore to bring one back.
Restoring a draft replaces what's in the editor now. Older versions may not all be listed, and work that was never saved cannot be recovered.
The Save Status Looks Wrong
If the editor shows Saved! but your recent changes don't seem to be there:
- Click away from the editor and click back
- Type a single character to start a new save
- Watch the bottom of the editor: it should show "Saving..." and then Saved!
If the status never updates:
- Open the browser console (F12, then the Console tab)
- Look for red error messages
- Take a screenshot and contact support with this information
Mobile-Specific Sync Issues
My work doesn't sync after I close the app:
- Limudi syncs while the app is open. Keep the app open until the pending changes notice clears.
I see two different versions of my work on my phone and computer:
- Open the assignment on the device that has the most recent version first
- Let it fully sync (wait for Synced or Saved!)
- Then open it on the other device. It will pick up the synced version.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my unsaved work safe if my browser crashes? Limudi saves your draft on your device before uploading it to the server. If your browser crashes, reload the page; your last saved draft should be there in most cases.
Can I recover work I deleted? Check the Restore Draft list for an earlier saved draft. If it isn't there, contact support with your email, the assignment name and the approximate time.
Does sync work with VPNs or school networks? Most VPNs work fine. If you're on a school network that blocks certain connections, sync may fail. Try a different network to check.
