Viewing Feedback and Grades

After you submit an assignment, your teacher reads it, grades it, and returns it to you. You see your grade and feedback only after your teacher returns the work. Until then the assignment shows as Submitted (or Pending on My Grades).

Where to Find Your Feedback

You can open a returned assignment in three ways:

  • My Assignments: returned work is in the Returned (Graded) section near the bottom of the page. Click the section name to open it. Click View Feedback on the assignment.
  • My Grades: click View next to the assignment.
  • Notifications: click the Grade Posted notification.

Work your teacher sent back for changes is at the top of My Assignments, under Needs Attention. See Revising Your Work below.

The Feedback Page

The page shows your submission with your teacher's feedback above it.

  • A message at the top says "Your teacher has returned your graded submission." or that the work was returned for revision.
  • Teacher Feedback: your grade as a percentage in a ring, with a label:
    GradeLabel
    90 and aboveExcellent
    80 to 89Good
    70 to 79Satisfactory
    60 to 69Needs Improvement
    Below 60Below Expectations

If your teacher uses letter grades, you see the letter at the top of the page and no ring.
  • Assignment Details: the assignment, class, the date you submitted, and a status (Released for final work, Awaiting Revision for work to revise).
  • Feedback: your teacher's overall comments.
  • Your Rubric Scores: if your teacher used a rubric, each criterion with your score and a Total.
  • Your submission: your writing, with any pen marks your teacher drew. Highlighted passages have comments. Hover over a highlight to read the comment, or click it to open the Comments panel.
  • Conversation: comments and questions from your teacher about your work. Type in the Write a reply... box to answer.

Click the back arrow at the top left to return to My Grades.

My Grades

Click My Grades (the star icon) in the sidebar to see all your work in one place.

  • Average Grade: your average across graded work, as a percentage. Letter grades are not included in the average.
  • Graded Submissions: how many assignments have come back with a grade.
  • Pending Feedback: how many submissions are waiting for your teacher.
  • Grade Trend: a line showing your recent grades (after at least two graded assignments).
  • Assignment Grades: a table with each assignment's class, status, grade, and the date you submitted. A red New label means there is feedback you have not opened yet. Click View to open it.

If you are in more than one class, use the class buttons above the table to show one class at a time.

Revising Your Work

If your teacher wants you to improve your work, it comes back with Revision Requested and appears under Needs Attention on My Assignments.

  1. Click Open Assignment on the assignment. The feedback page opens with the message "Your teacher has returned this submission for revision. Review their feedback and resubmit when you're ready."
  2. Read the feedback, then click Make Revisions. The editor opens with your submitted text.
  3. If your teacher left comments on your text, the Feedback Center opens beside the editor. It lists each comment. Click a comment to jump to that part of your writing. If your teacher drew on your work, click View teacher's markup to see the original with the pen marks.
  4. Click Mark as addressed on a comment when you have dealt with it. This is only a checklist for you. It is saved on this device and your teacher does not see it.
  5. When you are done, click Re-submit Assignment.

When you resubmit, your earlier grade and feedback are cleared. Your teacher grades the new version and returns it again.

After a resubmission, the feedback page has a version list that starts at Current Version (Latest). Choose an earlier submission to read it. You cannot restore an earlier submission from there.

You can resubmit only when your teacher asks for a revision. Work returned as final cannot be changed.
