Duplicate Students

Sometimes a student signs in with a school Google account whose email does not match the one on their class roster. Limudi then creates a new pending teacher account for them. The Duplicate student accounts page finds these accounts and lets you merge each one into the student's real account.

Open the page

Open the Management group at the bottom of the sidebar and click Duplicate Students.

Both Administrators and Organization Admins have it. You see accounts in your own school or organization only.

What each card shows

Each card is one extra account:

  • Its name, email and the date it was created, with the label Pending teacher account.
  • Under Student with the same name, the student accounts it most likely belongs to, with their email, number of active classes and last sign-in.

If the page says "No duplicate student accounts found", there is nothing to merge.

Merge an account

  1. Find the right student on the card and click This is the student.
  2. Read the summary. Merging will:
    • Change the student's email to the email of the extra account.
    • Move the extra account's sign-ins to the student's account.
    • Remove the duplicate teacher account.
  3. Click Merge accounts. Click Cancel to stop.

After the merge, the student signs in with Google as before and lands in their real account with their classes and work.

Tips

  • Check the class count and last sign-in to pick the right student when two have the same name.
  • If none of the students listed is right, leave the card alone and check the account on the Users tab.
