Duplicating and Archiving Assignments

Duplicating an Assignment

  1. Open Assignments in the sidebar.
  2. Click the ⋮ (Actions) menu on the assignment card and choose Duplicate Assignment. In the assignment editor, the Duplicate button does the same.
  3. In the Duplicate Assignment dialog, choose one:
    • Quick copy: creates a draft copy in the same class, named "(Copy)", without a due date. The copy opens in the editor.
    • or duplicate to other classes: pick classes in Select target classes, then choose Status for copies: Save as draft or Publish immediately. Click Duplicate.

Each class gets its own independent copy, with the same title and due date. You can copy to up to 20 classes at once.

A copy includes the instructions, files and links, settings, language level, starting template, rubric criteria and milestones. Student work and groups are not copied.

A copy always gets a simple rubric that students do not see. A matrix layout and the Show rubric to students setting are not copied, so check the rubric on the Grading tab of each copy.

Archiving an Assignment

  1. Click the ⋮ menu on the assignment card.
  2. Choose Archive Assignment.

The assignment moves to the Archived view on the Assignments page. Switch between Active and Archived at the top of the page.

To restore it, open Archived, click the ⋮ menu and choose Unarchive Assignment.

When a whole class is archived, its assignments appear under Archived too. You cannot unarchive one of them on its own. Unarchive the class first from the Classes page.

Deleting an Assignment

Choose Delete Assignment in the ⋮ menu, or Delete in the editor, and confirm. To keep an assignment but hide it from students, use Unpublish in the editor or archive it instead.
