Google Classroom Integration
Connect your Google Classroom account to import your courses as Limudi classes with their students, keep rosters up to date, and send assignments and grades back to Google Classroom.
Integrations with learning platforms are not available for Israeli schools under Ministry of Education rules.
Connecting Your Account
- Open the account menu (your name at the top of the sidebar) and choose Integrations.
- Click the Google Classroom card.
- Click Connect Google Classroom, sign in with Google, and approve the permissions.
The page then shows Connected as and your Google email.
Importing Courses
On the Google Classroom page, Available Courses lists courses you teach that are not in Limudi yet.
- Click Import next to a course, or tick several and click Import selected.
- Limudi creates a class with the course's name, makes you its teacher, links it to the course, and loads its students.
You can also import from Classes: click Create class and use the Import from Google Classroom tab.
If the class is created but the students could not be loaded, Limudi tells you. Click Sync on that course to try again.
How Students Join
When you import or sync a course, Limudi matches each student to a Limudi account by email. Students without an account get one in your school, using their Google email. No welcome email or password is sent.
On the website, students sign in by clicking Google Classroom on the Limudi sign-in page, with the same Google account they use in Google Classroom.
Students who were not added
After an import or sync, Limudi tells you about students it could not add:
- No email address. Google Classroom did not share the student's email. Ask your Google Workspace administrator to share student emails, then click Sync.
- Account cannot be added. The email belongs to an account that cannot join your class, for example one in another school or a deleted account. Ask your school administrator.
- Not enrolled. Students who are not in the Google Classroom course are not imported. Add them in Google Classroom, then click Sync.
Keeping Rosters Up to Date
Under Your Courses, each linked course shows when it last synced.
- Sync updates one course. Sync All Rosters updates every linked course.
- On the class page, Sync roster does the same for that class.
- Limudi also syncs linked classes by itself about once a day.
A sync adds students who joined the course and removes students who left it. Their submitted work stays in Limudi.
If Google Classroom returns an empty roster, or one that would remove at least 3 students and more than half of a class, Limudi keeps the current students. Check the roster in Google Classroom and click Sync again.
Sending Assignments and Grades
- Assignments: in the assignment editor, open the Google Classroom tab and click Export to Google Classroom, or link the assignment to one that already exists there. The tab appears when the assignment's class is linked to Google Classroom.
- Grades: when you return a student's work, the grade is sent to Google Classroom. A grade you saved but did not return appears there as a draft grade. The Gradebook warns you if some grades were not sent.
Connection Problems
A banner at the top of the page tells you if your connection expired or Limudi's access was removed. Click Reconnect and approve the permissions again.
Disconnecting
Click the disconnect button on the Google Classroom page and confirm. Your courses are unlinked and grades stop syncing. Your classes and student work stay in Limudi.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Limudi import student work or grades from Google Classroom? A: No. It imports courses and rosters only.
Q: What does Limudi change in Google Classroom? A: Only what you send: an assignment you export, and grades for work you return.
Q: Can two teachers import the same course? A: A course links to one Limudi class. If a colleague already imported it, ask your school administrator to add you to that class.
